Why invest in online marketing?

21% of total media consumption is now on the internet. Internet time is now the third top media consumed, after television and newspaper. Spend on online marketing grew at 26% last quarter in New Zealand.  In 2007, only 2% of marketing budgets was spent online. In 2008 this increased to 9%. For the year ended 2010 it was 10.5%. This was SPEND. Yet media consumption of internet is 21.5% of the average New Zealander’s time per week (12 hours).

In accommodation, 77% of people prefer to source information on the internet.  The question is, how much of your marketing budget have you allocated to online? And what are you going to do with it?
